The Past Month & 1/2: Cliff Notes Version

Christmas Eve in Colorado

I haven't posted in quite awhile.  Life has been so busy!  Will I ever NOT say that?  Is anyone's life ever NOT busy, though?  I guess it's just that I haven't made time to post.  I don't feel like there has been time for anything but survival over some of the past six weeks!   We went to Colorado for Christmas to visit family.  We stayed with my mom's sister, Aunt Traci, her husband, Todd and their two college age kids, Marcus & Clayton.  My parents were there, too.  We had a really nice time.  The flights both there and back were easy and non-eventful.  In fact, the kids were so good on the flights that Myke and I decided we should get some kind of award for best kids (and we don't say that very often)!  Honestly, the flight home from Denver to San Diego was hell in the sky for someone who doesn't have kids.  There were A TON of kids on the flight and almost all of them screamed and broke down for most of the two-hour flight.  Our kids were great.  I have to toot our own horn for that.  We couldn't have asked for them to be better.

Anyways, Christmas was great- it snowed starting on Christmas Eve so we got to have a white Christmas, which was really nice.  Chloë and Clayton built a snowman together.

Out with family in Colorado

At the Airport- Yes, that's all our luggage in the background!

We headed back to San Diego on Friday 12/28, arriving in around 6pm.  The moving truck arrived at our home in Pacific Beach by 8am on 12/29.  No messing around.  We got back from our week-long trip to Colorado and moved the next morning.  So we're now living in North County San Diego in the city of Encinitas.  We've been here just over three weeks and we couldn't be happier.  The first week was a bit crazy because Myke came down with the flu the day after we moved and was out of commission for nearly a week.  It was so bad he ended up in the ER getting bags of fluid to re-hydrate his body and to calm his nausea on New Year's Day.  Happy 2013!

So we're just over three weeks in to life in our new house and new neighborhood and we've actually gotten A LOT done over that time.  We're more moved-in and settled than I imagined we would be at this point.  MOST of that is THANKS to our family who has been out here helping us since we moved.  They have done so much for us- watching the kids, running errands, unpacking boxes, walking the dog, helping to hang pictures, painting, etc.  We are so blessed to have the help.  I can't even imagine where we would (or wouldn't) be in the moving process if it wasn't for our parents!  Especially with me being in my final month of pregnancy during this whole thing.

So here we are at the tail-end of the month of January.  We are moved in and pretty settled already (not living out of boxes, that is).  Chloë started her new preschool (which is a 3 minute walk from our house--so convenient) and has adjusted really well to it so far.  All three kids are loving having the extra space to run around and play.  We don't have a huge backyard but we do have a lot more indoor space. The house came with a hot tub in the back yard and Myke has been enjoying that on a regular basis with a dip before bed.  I can't wait until I'm not pregnant and I can get in, too.   My due date is two weeks away!  The count down is on!  I've been feeling pretty good and the baby is moving around all the time- a very active little girl!  We don't have her room ready and we don't have a crib yet, but other than that, I think we are as ready as we're going to be to meet her.  I'll keep you posted!
